Each year, orientation programmes are arranged by some University departments/units and by many student organisations (including faculty societies and hall/college students' associations), normally just before the beginning of the first semester. Their purpose is to help new students adjust to university life and enable them to feel at home in the university community. You are strongly recommended to join these programmes, although you are not under obligation to do so. It often happens that two or more orientation activities are scheduled at the same time, in which case you must set your own priorities. You can visit the CEDARS website to explore orientation activities organised by student organisations that have received acknowledgment and support from CEDARS. Additionally, you can refer to the Orientation Regulations for Student Societies 2025 to understand your essential rights as a participant in these student-led orientation activities.
To obtain details of the orientation activities organised by University departements/units, please refer to the section on "University Induction Programmes" in this Handbook.
