In addition to the need-based funding resources, the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) also administers a wide portfolio of educational and merit-based funds to support students to experience learning inside and outside classroom. The First-in-the-Family Education Fund (FIFE Fund) supports full-degree full-time local undergraduate students who are first generation university students admitted to HKU after 2008 to take part in different learning activities outside the classroom. Yang Tuck Ming & Wong Fung Ying Service Learning Fund supports local Hong Kong students to partake non-credit bearing service learning in Hong Kong or abroad (excluding mainland) so as to promote HKU service spirit and students’ community engagement.
