The University administers a multitude of scholarships and prizes which are primarily merit-based. Further information can be found on the HKU Academic Advising and Scholarships Office’s website (https://aas.hku.hk/). For scholarships which accept open applications, calls will be made through bulk emails either by the Academic Advising and Scholarships Office or the relevant Faculty/Department. The Academic Advising and Scholarships Office will help publicise internal and external schemes on the HKU Academic Advising and Scholarships Office’s website (under “Apply for Scholarship”). Students are advised to visit the website periodically for the latest news, application procedures and backgrounds. Some scholarships are awarded based on nominations by Faculties/Departments, and so students do not need to apply.
