The Centre for Applied English Studies (CAES) primarily offers academic literacy courses and one-to-one services to assist UGC-funded postgraduate and undergraduate students to use English more effectively in their academic studies and their subsequent careers.
All undergraduate and UGC-funded research postgraduate students (RPGs) can avail of the language services provided by all three strands of the Communication Support Services (CSS) at the Centre, namely, the Digital Literacy Lab, Speaking Studio and Writing Centre.
CAES also offers tailored support to help non-UGC-funded taught postgraduate students improve their academic English skills on request of individual programmes.
In addition, CAES offers a taught postgraduate programme leading to the degree of Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics [MA(AppliedLinguistics)] and co-offers the Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages [MA(TESOL)] with the Faculty of Education.
