The Campus Life section of CEDARS provides high quality support services to enhance students’ overall learning experience. Specifically, we provide guidance and assistance in several major areas. On financial matters, our section helps students to apply for the Government grant and loan and non-means-tested loan schemes. We also run the University financial assistance scheme to assist students in need. On accommodation, we assist students to apply for Halls of Residence and Residential Colleges and run a free accommodation service for students to rent off the campus privately-owned housing. There is support for non-local students in visa matters and hall placement. We also render support for the student bodies and student activities, monitors on-campus catering services and any general concern students have on campus life.
We also work with other support units to promote students’ physical, social, emotional and environmental wellness.

pThe Counselling and Person Enrichment Section (CoPE) of CEDARS offers tailor-made educational programmes and support services to help our postgraduate students not only achieve academic excellence during their stay at HKU, but also develop positive attitudes as well as necessary life skills for their future success.
Seek early consultation on any personal issues (e.g. adjustment, study-related matters, relationships, mental health, life goals) and take steps to overcome personal blocks. We have a team of professional Clinical Psychologists and Counsellors. This service is confidential and free-of-charge. To make your first appointment, please call 2857 8388, email cedars-cope@hku.hk or come to our centre at Room 408, Meng Wah Complex. You will be invited to a 15-20 minute screening session with our Duty Counsellor. Afterwards, you can schedule a full appointment with the Case Counsellor, which is usually within 2 weeks of your first appointment.
Students are encouraged to join our person enrichment programmes to explore and develop their potentials. These included Certificate Course on Mental Health First Aid, workshops on social and emotional competence, effective learning, stress and time management, relationship and communication.
Students are recommended to take various learning and psychological assessments at our web-based Psychological Profile - Psychometer http://psyax.cedars.hku.hk/ to monitor how well they are doing at HKU. Instant on-line feedback is available. Most assessments are free of charge.
We provide comprehensive service to students with disabilities or special educational needs (SEN). Contact CEDARS - SEN Support and find out what support you would need in your university life.
Join “Peer English Tutoring”, a peer support initiative for one-to-one conversational English practice, jointly managed by Centre of Applied English Studies and CEDARS.

CEDARS administers the following funds:
HKU 81 Inclusion Fund and Henry Chan Inclusive Education Fund provide funding for projects which promote social inclusion and understanding of people with a disability. HKU Class of '84 Social Inclusion Fund provides funding for programmes or projects which promote harmony amongst people of different ethnic origins, races, cultural origins, genders or religions in Hong Kong. Henry Chan Inclusive Education Grants supports ethnic minority students and students with a disability or special learning needs to procure learning aids, equipment and services to facilitate their learning.
The SERVICE 100, Yang Tuck Ming & Wong Fung Ying Service Learning Fund and We Are With You Project Fund aim to promote the service spirit of the HKU community and encourage students to take action to address local and global issues. The SERVICE 100 Fund also supports not-for-profit start-ups that are non-technology-based. The Chui’s Student Excellence Scheme supports outstanding students to engage in prestigious academic, cultural and sports activities, and to lead innovative service projects.
Grants to student societies are available to bona-fide student societies of the Postgraduate Student Association (PGSA). Awards are made as token subsidies to encourage societies to organize activities of various kinds, including exhibitions, workshops, competitions, performance and community service.

The HKU Service Network is an online platform specifically designed to support students to contribute to global issues through joining and developing sustainable and innovative service projects. Students may promote their service projects, recruit volunteers, identify partners and opportunities, share experience and even showcase their achievements to attract funding.
