The Centre on Behavioral Health is dedicated to improve individual and community well-being by integrating Eastern and Western health philosophies, principles and practives through research, education, and clinical service. In line with its holistic orientation, the Centre adopts a body-mind-spirit health model which is strength-focused. The Centre's educational programmes are positioned at postgraduate level, and as post-qualifying training for facilitating health and social services professionals to develop their own integrative practicde.
The Centre provides a range of professional training and development services, including intermediate and advanced courses in wellness enhancement through a body-mind-spirit approach; stress management based on the Chinese medicine yangsheng principles; strength-focused and growth-oriented crisis management and debriefing; bereavement counselling that emphasizes meaning-making; expressive and creative arts therapies that include dance movement therapy, art therapy, music therapy and drama therapy; psychoneuroimmunology, energy therapies, psychodynamic therapy and the Satir psychotherapy model that facilitates personal growth and development. For providing a more structured and comprehensive training, the Centre helps develop postgraduate level educational programs through the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (MsocSc in Behavioral Health since September 2004 and Master of Expressive Arts Therapy since September 2013). In clinical training, the Centre regularly conducts live case demonstrations that emphasize transparency, equity, respect, and active participation of both clients and trainess.
