Residential Hall Membership |
Applications for admission to residential halls (and to Residential Colleges on Lung Wah Street) should be submitted via HKU Portal, the University's online information system. Once you have completed your online registration, you can access HKU Portal. Once you are logged in, please read the General Information and Instructions carefully (http://www.asa.hku.hk/halls.htm) before proceeding to fill in the application form. The online system starts to accept applications from students newly admitted into a study programme from 10:00 a.m. on August 15, 2014 and closes at 11:59 p.m. on August 17, 2014. Students are strongly advised to apply and submit their applications as early as possible during the application period concerned in order to avoid a major system overload near the application deadlines which may lead to delay or even rejection of the application. Interviews will be conducted during August 18 to August 20, 2014. Applicants invited for interview will be notified by the respective hall(s). You should personally note these details and present yourself for interview if required at the time and place specified. It is your responsibility to follow the application procedures and to note the important dates of the admission exercise. Students who are admitted to the University after August 17, 2014 can make their applications online during August 19 to August 29, 2014 via the HKU Portal. The results of applications will be available on the CEDARS website at http://cedars.hku.hk on August 21, 2014 by 4:00 p.m. Applicants to residential halls are encouraged to visit the website for up-to-date hall admission information. It is important for you to check the results on that date and, if your application is successful, proceed directly to the appropriate hall office where the formal admission letter will be available for immediate collection. You should bring along two recent passport-size photographs to facilitate completion of various procedures. If you are successful in your application, you are strongly advised to sign the acceptance of offer and to return it immediately to the appropriate hall office staff on duty there. If this is not possible, make sure that the signed acceptance is returned to the hall office/warden by not later than the deadline specified in the offer letter. If it is not received by then, the offer will be regarded as having been declined and therefore withdrawn with immediate effect. If you are unable to collect the admission letter in person, you may authorize another person in writing to collect it and to sign the acceptance on your behalf. The person so authorized must show to the hall staff concerned a written authorization duly signed by you. |
