Compulsory Screening and Vaccination Programmes for High Occupational Risk Students |
The following programmes are provided to ensure that students receive adequate protection before their practicum / clinical years. Compulsory Tuberculin Skin Test/BCG Vaccination Screening All new Bachelor of Chinese Medicine, Dental, Medical, Nursing, Pharmacy, Speech & Hearing Sciences and Social Work students are required to bring along the completed Tuberculin Skin Test and BCG Vaccination Questionnaire to the Test/Screening Session. Those with negative or unknown past history of BCG Vaccination will have Tuberculin Skin Test accordingly. After the Skin Test, you need to come back for the result 3 days later. Those with negative response will be given BCG vaccination. Hepatitis B Vaccination All new Bachelor of Chinese Medicine, Dental, Medical, Nursing and Speech & Hearing Sciences undergraduate students are strongly recommended to protect themselves against Hepatitis B. You are required to bring along the completed Hepatitis B Questionnaire and should come for the Hepatitis B blood test on August 25, 2014. You must also come back for the Hepatitis B result on August 28, 2014. Those with negative response will be given Hepatitis B vaccination. Arrangement will also be made for those who had Hepatitis B vaccination before. Chickenpox Vaccination All new Bachelor of Chinese Medicine, Medical and Nursing students are required to bring along the completed Chickenpox Questionnaires. Those with negative or unknown past history of chickenpox will have blood test for chickenpox immunity on August 25, 2014. Arrangement will be made for those who are negative for chickenpox antibody to receive 2 doses of vaccination. |
