The Counselling and Person Enrichment Section of CEDARS (CEDARS-CoPE) offers tailor-made educational programmes and support services to help postgraduate students not only achieve academic success during their stay at HKU but also develop psychosocial wellbeing as well as positive attitudes for their future success.

Individual counselling service is offered by a team of professional Clinical Psychologists and Counsellors to support postgraduate students in handling university adjustment, personal issues, relationship problems and improving psychological health. This service is confidential and free-of-charge. To consult a counsellor, please call 3917 8388, email cedars-cope@hku.hk or visit CEDARS-CoPE at Room 301-323, 3/F, Main Building. You will receive a 15-20 minute screening assessment conducted by the Duty Counsellor between 10 am and 5 pm (except the lunch hour: 1 pm to 2 pm) from Monday to Friday. Afterwards, a full counselling appointment will be scheduled for you within 2 weeks.
Students are strongly recommended to take various learning and psychological assessments at the web-based Psychological Profile - Psychometer (psyax.cedars.hku.hk/) to monitor how well they are doing at HKU and identify ways to achieve university success. Immediate feedback, recommendation and enrichment tips are available. All online assessments are free of charge.
This resourceful online psychological self-help platform (weatherthestorm.cedars.hku.hk) renders insights and tips for you to better understand, embrace and regulate every emotional weather no matter what life hands you. Selected psychoeducational videos, self-help tools and support resources are available for you to practise self-care.
CEDARS is committed to supporting students with disabilities or special educational needs (SEN) in overcoming barriers and achieving successful university education. CEDARS is the one-stop service unit for students with physical and sensory disabilities, learning and developmental disabilities, mental illnesses, chronic medical illnesses, or multiple disabilities. Comprehensive service is provided. It includes support on academic studies, counselling service, support for application of university housing, provision of funding to procure learning aids/equipment, and also access to information and resources.

The General Education (GE) Team of CEDARS (CEDARS-GE) is committed to providing whole-person education and cultivating among students the breadth of knowledge, competencies, and qualities equipping students for the new challenges ahead. It organises programmes for all students with an aim to enhance their general knowledge and understanding of the global, regional, and local issues; encourage self-reflection and service learning; enrich the appreciation of cultural diversity, creativity and arts; and develop qualities for future compassionate leaders
CEDARS-GE offers a wide range of co-curricular and non-credit bearing courses and programmes for all students, in which prominent speakers, community leaders, and individuals with outstanding achievement in various sectors are invited to run courses and share insights with students. Local, regional and global issues are discussed under the We Are The World series. GEST (GE Student Team) programmes, including Happy Thursday – Tea from Around the World, Global Kitchen, Global News Chat, and Curator’s Gig and Exhibition, encourage students to host and create something new with GE and facilitate students with different nationalities mingle and learn other cultures. F:A:C:E: (Fascinating Arts and Cultural Experiences) supports students’ creative projects and enriches campus life and learning with more intimate and interactive encounters of arts and culture. Green Living Lifestyle welcomes you to join our Organic Farm and Herb Garden, and learn to grow edible plants with a holistic approach of wellness and mindfulness on campus. Besides, the Gatherland is a cosy place for student activities and students can drop by to enjoy music, movie and tea.
