The Academic Advising Office (AAO) offers students quality advising services and learning resources to enhance the academic success of undergraduate students.

As the unit responsible for the implementation of the University academic advising network, AAO helps students, especially first-year students, make a smooth transition to the University, set achievable study goal and develop appropriate study plans through a wide range of services and activities.

One-on-one Advising Session with AAO Adviser

AAO provides personalized academic advice which complements those offered by teachers in Faculties. All undergraduate students are welcome to meet with AAO advisers to discuss study planning matters, especially those related to regulations or cross-Faculty learning opportunities. Appointment can be made via http://booking.aao.hku.hk/.

A Hub of Study Information and Resources

AAO’s website serves as a hub for students who wish to search information and resources for their studies. Students can find comprehensive information on areas ranging from university curriculum, regulations, major/ minor options across Faculties, semester dates, course enrollment to GPA calculator. Online materials, such as the “3-minute online briefing series” and videos on study tips and resources, are available for students’ viewing. http://aao.hku.hk/

Academic Planning Tools

To map out their learning journey throughout all years of study and plan their courses, new students are encouraged to make good use of “Academic Roadmap” (http://aao.hku.hk/roadmap) and “e-Academic Planner” (http://aao.hku.hk/eplanner) developed by AAO. The Roadmap shows important learning experience, advice and resources by year of study, while the e-Planner allows forward course planning with convenient functions.

Workshops and Sharing Sessions

AAO organizes a range of talks, workshops and sharing sessions throughout the academic year to cater for the needs of students in different years of study.  These include the “New Students 101 Workshop Series” to help new students adapt to university studies; the Major-Minor week; AAO friends party and workshops on scholarship application, postgraduate studies planning etc. For details of AAO activities, please visit our Facebook and Instagram.
