Inauguration Ceremony for New Students

The Inauguration Ceremony for New Students, organised by the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS), will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013.  This is the University's formal welcome to all first-year students at which new students will meet the principal officers and senior academics of the University including the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Pro-Vice-Chancellors, the Registrar, the Librarian, the Deans of Faculties, the Dean of Graduate School and the Dean of Student Affairs. The representatives of Convocation, Hong Kong University Alumni Association, Hong Kong University Graduates Association and the President of the Students' Union will be present. A Guest of Honour will also be invited to deliver a speech. The Inauguration Ceremony also consists of a Robing Ceremony which signifies the official induction of the new students to the University family. After the ceremony, there will be individual tea receptions for respective Faculties to enable new students and teachers to get to know each other.
