The Student Engagement and Leadership Team of CEDARS is committed to nurturing student leadership and enhancing student life by empowering student organisations and individuals to take an active role in shaping a dynamic, inclusive, and vibrant campus community. We offer strategic funding, resources, training, and professional guidance to clubs and societies, while providing co-curricular programmes, peer support networks, and signature university-wide events that promote personal growth, community building, leadership skills, and meaningful engagement.

  • Peer Impact Network (PIN)
    Take part in the Peer Impact Network (PIN) (pin.cedars.hku.hk) by becoming a Peer Supporter. Through this role, you will receive training and resources to establish connections, support fellow students and contribute to the creation of supportive networks and the development of an inclusive community at HKU and beyond.

Mind and Wellbeing

The Mind and Wellbeing Team of CEDARS is committed to empowering students to develop their social capability and emotional resilience, and also to capitalise on their character strengths, and to live a fulfilling and psychologically healthy life so that they are able to achieve personal success, overcome life challenges and contribute to the community by demonstrating integrity, sensitivity, and leadership.

To help students live a successful and well-balanced university life, the team offers the following services and resources:

  • Professional Counselling Service: (cedars.hku.hk/mwb/appointment):Seek early consultation on any personal issues such as adjustment, study-related matters, relationships, mental health, life goals from professional Clinical Psychologists and Counsellors, take steps to overcome personal blocks and recognise your strengths for self-enhancement. This service is confidential and free-of-charge. To consult a counsellor, please call 3917 8388, email cedars-mwb@hku.hk or visit the team at Room 301-323, 3/F, Main Building.   • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training: An internationally recognised certificate course (cedars.hku.hk/mwb/mhfa) designed to equip you with essential knowledge of mental health and practical skills to offer effective support to others experiencing mental health challenges.
  • “Psychometer” (psyax.cedars.hku.hk): Take free psychological tests on university adjustment, learning styles, time management, social life and mental health to gain a better self-understanding and identify ways to achieve university success.
  • Mental Health eWorkbook Series (https://www.cedars.hku.hk/mwb/mh-resources/self-help/MHworkbooks): Explore the self-guided and self-paced e-Workbooks aimed at enhancing your skills for overcoming life challenges such as boosting confidence, beating procrastination, improving relationships, and managing perfectionism.
  • Peer-to-Peer: A Student’s Guide to Mental Health Support (cedars.hku.hk/mwb/peer2peer): A comprehensive guide with practical tips and resources on peer support. It outlines key principles for spotting signs of distress and offering help. Relatable scenarios, supported by easy-to-follow illustrations, equip you to navigate effective support for your peers on and off campus.
  • Jockey Club TourHeart+ (sso.cedars.hku.hk/tourHeart/en/):Navigate your emotional journey with personalised mental health support, including self-assessment tools, psychological self-help courses, and guides to prioritise your mental well-being.
