Electronic Communication

All students are given a computer account, identified uniquely by an HKU Portal UID (User Identification) and an associated PIN (Personal Identification Number), for accessing a wide range of network services and applications conveniently and communicating with their fellow students and other members of the University.

The University will disseminate important information and notices to students on HKU Portal and communicate with students using the @connect.hku.hk account. You are therefore reminded to visit HKU Portal (https://hkuportal.hku.hk) and check your emails in the @connect.hku.hk account regularly via the left-hand navigation in the Portal, go to “My Services” and Select “MyEmail”.

For new students admitted from the academic year 2026-27 onwards, your UID@connect.hku.hk email address will only be active during your study period at HKU. If you leave HKU without completing your studies, your UID@connect.hku.hk email account will no longer be accessible. After graduation, emails sent to your UID@connect.hku.hk address will be automatically forwarded to your UID@graduate.hku.hk email address for one year, and you will be entitled to use your UID@graduate.hku.hk email address on a long-term basis.
