If you are registered as a full-time student and you take up an exclusively UGC-funded or exclusively publicly-funded place at the University, you can apply for the means-tested Tertiary Student Finance Scheme - Publicly-funded Programmes (TSFS) administered by the Government Student Finance Office (SFO). To qualify for TSFS assistance, a student should have the right of abode in Hong Kong or have resided in Hong Kong continuously for three years prior to the commencement of his/her course. This does not cover students staying in Hong Kong holding student visas.

The Non-means-tested Loan Scheme for Full-time Tertiary Students (NLSFT) is also available to complement the TSFS for eligible students to settle tuition fees.

For students reading a self-financing second degree of a double degree programme offered by HKU, you can apply for Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP) and Non-means-tested Loan Scheme for Post-secondary Students (NLSPS).

Details and application procedures of various government schemes are available at wfsfaa.gov.hk/sfo/en/postsecondary. You may also refer to the useful notes on the CEDARS website at cedars.hku.hk/finance/govt.html.

The deadline to apply for TSFS/NLSFT for new students will be in mid-September 2021. Please check with CEDARS/SFO nearer the time.

CEDARS also provides advisory service on form filling to all first-time TSFS applicants. Please contact CEDARS at 3917 2305 for details and appointment.
