In addition to the need-based funding resources, the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) also administers a wide portfolio of educational and merit-based funds to support students to experience learning inside and outside classroom.

CEDARS Student Learning Activity Fund supports full-time students to participate in local or overseas non-credit bearing activities, which meet the educational aims of the University. Please visit https://www.cedars.hku.hk/CSLAF for details.

The First-in-the-Family Education Fund (FIFE Fund) supports full-degree full-time local undergraduate students who are first generation university students admitted to HKU after 2008 to take part in different learning activities outside the classroom. Please visit fife.hku.hk for details.

K.B. Chen / Henry Chan Inclusive Education Award awards and supports students with a disability or SEN in their learning, procurement of equipment / specialized services and their participation in extra-curricular activities. The Chui’s Student Excellence Scheme supports outstanding HKU full-time students to engage in prestigious conferences and symposia, join esteemed competitions; and those with a proven record in services and service learning to initiate and lead such projects to improve human condition. Yang Tuck Ming & Wong Fung Ying Service Learning Fund supports local Hong Kong students to partake non-credit bearing service learning in Hong Kong or abroad (excluding mainland) so as to promote HKU service spirit and students’ community engagement. Grants to Student Societies is available to bona-fide student societies of the HKUSU or the Postgraduate Student Association (PGSA). Awards are made as token subsidies to encourage societies to organise activities of various kinds, including exhibitions, workshops, competitions, performance and community services.
