There are 13 residential halls of which 11 are administered by the University: Lady Ho Tung Hall, Lee Hysan Hall, Lee Shau Kee Hall, Morrison Hall, R.C. Lee Hall, Simon K.Y. Lee Hall, Starr Hall, Suen Chi Sun Hall, Swire Hall, University Hall and Wei Lun Hall. The other two are run by outside religious bodies: Ricci Hall and St. John's College.  In addition, there are 2 non-residential halls: Hornell Hall and Lee Chi Hung Hall.

Other than halls, there are four Residential Colleges on Lung Wah Street, Kennedy Town for 1800 students, about 1100 places will be assigned to undergraduates.  Students in the Residential Colleges are expected to take part in intellectual activities and community projects.

Membership in Halls (whether residential or non-residential) or Residential Colleges, is entirely voluntary. The fees for both types of membership of University-administered halls are payable in advance, in two instalments in the case of residential members, by October 2013 and January 2014. Subject to the approval of the University Council, the fees for 2013-2014 are as follows:

Residential Colleges Lodging for the residential year of 2013-2014 for single room and double room would be around $17,766 and $13,325 respectively (based on a residential period of 282 days).  Compulsory meal charge is also applicable to the Residential Colleges, including High Table Dinners and possibly other meals for the residential year.  The estimated meal charge will be around $2,000 or less (if just High Table Dinners are included) and in the range of $3,000 to $5,000 (if other meals are included). All these charges are subject to the final decision of the Governance Committee of the Residential Colleges and the Committee on Student Affairs.

Residents of University Hall are additionally required to pay a board charge, the rate of which will be announced in due course. The board charge in 2012-2013 is $8,000.

Students should note that the lodging fee does not cover electricity consumption for air-conditioning in the study-bedroom which should be paid separately by students using a stored-value card.
